Garlic Extract is a handy herbal medicine to have around the home, especially during cold and flu season.
The health benefits of garlic go on and on:

If you get sick a lot, including the common cold or flu, you should add more garlic to your diet. A 12-week study revealed that people who took 2.56 grams of garlic per day (or related supplements) not only got sick fewer times but the length and severity of their the cold or flu was improved.

Respiratory:
Both ginger and garlic are known for their natural, antibacterial characteristics, and their ability to relieve congestion and loosen phlegm. So, ginger relieves congestion, softens aching muscles, and can soothe a sore throat. Garlic is considered to be an antibiotic and is often recommended for treating flu and colds.


Ginger's effectiveness against headaches has been proven. Ginger has been shown to decrease the severity and symptoms of headaches by blocking prostaglandins (the chemicals, which can induce inflammation in the brain blood vessels). In addition, this anti-inflammatory power in ginger can lower the discomfort of headaches, flu, and colds.

The strong taste is largely due to the amount of herb that has been drawn into the liquid, and alcohol draws out more herbal properties than anything else. While you can make tinctures out of glycerin, they will not be as strong and will not have the same extended shelf life as an alcohol tinctured herb. Mix the liquid extract into water or juice for consumption. Mix the prescribed number of extract drops into 2-3 ounces of water. You can also add the drops to warm tea (not piping hot) or juice. Certain herbs may be damaged by high heat, so avoid adding the extract to "hot" water or coffee. Taking them straight from the dropper may cause a burning sensation in the mouth. If you choose to take the extract straight, please have water handy to drink immediately after.
